CERRUCHA: f. del latín cer para existir; herramienta manual que utiliza el arte para abrir la mente de quien observa la obra; es la hoja dentada que de manera subversiva le habla a tus sentidos: CERRUCHA, conjugación en presente del verbo cerruchar las mentes ajenas, ruptura de preconceptos, siembra de cuestionamientos.

 

Artista multidisciplinaria originaria de México D.F. Vive entre México DF y Montréal, su trabajo se basa tanto en fotografía como en instalación y video. Su ínterés se centra en la exploración del comportamiento humano, la construcción de la identidad y los preconceptos que existen dentro de los diversos grupos sociales. Su interés por establecer una conexión con el espectador a través del arte, crear una mayor consciencia social y hacer el arte más accesible al público en general la ha llevado a utilizar métodos alternos de representación como lo son sus intervenciones de arte públicas.

CERRUCHA: this word comes from the latin cer “to be”, cerrucha “a saw” f.; a hand tool that uses art to deconstruct mindframes; toothed blade that subversively talks to your senses: CERRUCHA, present tense of the verb cerruchar – to saw through fixed ideals promoting a critical analysis about our surroundings, an invitation to see yourself in the other.

 

Mexican multidisciplinary artist based in Montreal and Mexico City.  She holds a Bachelor in Fine Arts in Photography by Concordia University. Her background in sociology and industrial design often inspire her work both conceptually and technically. She has exhibited in Mexico and Canada.
 
Mainly working in photography as well as video and installation, her work is about communicating socially relevant themes such as gender issues, multiculturalism, alterity, immigration and the construction of social and personal identity. She aims to be provocative with her work, engaging the viewer in a way that leads her/him into a reflection about their self-perception as well as that of their surroundings. She strives to use art as a means for change within society.
